Support the Asian Liver Center!
The Asian Liver Center at Stanford University is a non-profit organization funded by private donations and grants. Gifts to support the center accelerate our efforts in community education, research to find new treatments, methods of prevention, and perhaps someday, a cure for liver disease and cancer.
Donations are used to support our three programs:
Outreach and Education
Your donations to our Outreach/Education branch of the Asian Liver Center would be extremely helpful in our efforts to globally spread awareness about hepatitis B and liver cancer. Some examples of current and past Outreach/Education include:

- Jade Ribbon Campaign
- National (Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County, Arizona, New York, Hawaii)

Research
We are currently focusing on three main projects:
- Screening blood samples from liver cancer patients for the presence of several potential diagnostic markers, identified through the above mentioned study
- Studying the prognostic and possible therapeutic value of a novel tumor marker in predicting tumor recurrence
- Investigating the anti-tumor activity of a novel drug in liver cancer.
This novel chemotherapeutic agent has proven effective in inhibiting the growth of human liver cancer cell lines. We hope to study its efficacy in liver cancer patients in future clinical trials. We are also planning a major project to identify genetic markers that can help to predict an individual's susceptibility to developing liver cancer. Hence, the ALC's research goals can only be realized with the generous support of our donors.
Adopt-an-Intern
Since its establishment in 2000, the Outreach Intern program has recruited about twenty talented Stanford undergraduates each year. Our interns contribute to all aspects of work at the center, including website development and management, and the design and porduction of all ALC multimedia publicity material. In addition, they organize major projects such as the annual Youth Leadership Conference and "3 for Life", conduct outreach at health fairs and cultural festivals, and give hepatitis B presentations to community members.
We now invite you to partner with us by supporting our Adopt-an-Intern program. A pledge of $2500 - less than $10 a day - can sponsor one intern for a year. More importantly, your contribution will give a promising undergraduate the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in grassroots advocacy, skills in cross-cultural communication, and knowledge of API health disparities, as well as to serve local and international communities.
Catch-up Vaccination for Children in China
The ALC launched a catch-up vaccination program in 2004 that has since vaccinated over 100,000 students against hepatitis B in the Sichuan and Guangdong provinces. The China Hepatitis B Project is made possible by the support of visionary donors who are committed to investing in and enhancing children's lives. With your support, the ALC looks forward to further expansion of the project to Jiangxi, Hunan, and Qinghai provinces in 2006, with the goal of vaccinating another 100,000 students.
