What YOU Should Do
- Get tested (updated)For you and your family, ask your doctor for the hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and surface antibody (HBsAb) tests which are not included in routine physical examination blood tests. If you are pregnant, ask your doctor for the HBsAg test to see whether you are a hepatitis B carrier.
- Get vaccinated to be protected from hepatitis B and liver cancer (updated)If both your blood tests (HBsAg and HBsAb) are negative, get the 3-dose hepatitis B vaccine to protect you from future infection and the risk of liver cancer. All newborns should receive the hepatitis B vaccine at birth.
